Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Otha Carson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Kelm!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelm tries to clinch up but Carson circles away and keeps his distance.
A good leg kick by Kelm.
Kelm lands a leg kick that knocks Carson off balance momentarily.
Kelm showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carson.
Kelm counters with a body kick.
Kelm looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carson is fending him off so far but Kelm persists. Nope, Carson circles away and we're back to standing.

David Kelm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kelm. That's going to slow Carson down.
Kelm lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Carson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carson lands in his opponent's guard.

Carson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Carson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kelm is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kelm has escaped and now he's on top!

Kelm must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kelm looking to sit in guard and control but Carson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kelm looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carson is one step ahead there.

Carson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Carson tries to stand but Kelm is controlling from the bottom.
Carson postures up in Kelm's guard and throws a big left but Kelm blocks it.

Carson wants to get up but he can't break Kelm's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kelm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kelm's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kelm works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Kelm fails with the takedown

and Carson counters by moving into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Kelm manages to break the clinch.

Kelm closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carson kicks off Kelm and gets to his feet.

Carson moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kelm feints the counter takedown.
Carson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Otha Carson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Carson tries to clinch up but Kelm circles away and keeps his distance.
Kelm tries to land a front kick but Carson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Kelm swings for the body but Carson moves out of range.

Carson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Carson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Carson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kelm is just riding it out for now. Carson eventually gives up the hold.
Carson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kelm feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Carson's calf.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kelm or perhaps it was just good defense by Carson, which made it look bad.

Carson moves into the clinch.
Carson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kelm wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kelm is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carson to keep the fight standing.
Otha Carson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Kelm.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Kelm breaks the clinch.
Kelm stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kelm wants it to stay on the feet.
Kelm unleashes a big counter combination but Carson bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Carson shoots in for a takedown but Kelm shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kelm goes for a double leg but Carson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carson continues to drive forward.

Carson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Carson shoots in and gets a takedown into Kelm's guard.

Kelm is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carson stands up over Kelm, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Carson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carson postures up in Kelm's guard and throws a big left but Kelm blocks it.
Kelm takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kelm can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carson controls the pace.
Carson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kelm for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Carson looks to land a combination but Kelm avoids it well.
Kelm does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Carson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Carson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kelm.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kelm circles away from the clinch attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Otha Carson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
