PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jun Mizuno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Ding (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ding has chosen Mortal Kombat as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jun Mizuno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dick Ding!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ding avoids the head kick by Mizuno.
Mizuno scores with a hook.
Ding finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Ding misses with a double jab.
Ding throws a right hand that Mizuno ducks under and follows up with a left that Mizuno also avoids with ease.
Ding takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Dick Ding has been cut.
Mizuno tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ding manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mizuno moves into range and clinches up with Ding.
Ding throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Ding wants to get back to striking at distance but Mizuno won't allow it.

Ding's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ding closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mizuno's guard.
Mizuno might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ding throws a big right hand that misses.
Ding postures up in Mizuno's guard and throws a big left but Mizuno blocks it.
Ding throwing strikes but missing.
We've been hearing good reports from Mizuno's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Ding preventing the sweep.
Ding working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mizuno has Ding pulled in close to control his posture.
Mizuno is trying to keep Ding in close.
Ding wants to pass the guard but Mizuno is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mizuno gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ding throwing strikes but missing.

Mizuno looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ding controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ding postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mizuno wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ding manages to pass to side control.
Ding throws a strike but Mizuno avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ding trying to control the position from guard on top but Mizuno is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ding throws a big right hand that misses.
Ding trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ding accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ding advances position into side control!
Mizuno tries to bench press Ding off him but Ding keeps the position.
Ding lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mizuno down.
Ding postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ding fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Ding scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mizuno to see if he's OK.
Ding wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mizuno keeps working.
Ding working the ground and pound from side control.
Ding trying to control the action but Mizuno is working from the bottom.

Ding working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
An elbow from Ding crashes against the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dick Ding dominated that round.

That's time! Mizuno's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mizuno misses with the combination.
Mizuno throws a wild body kick that Ding sees coming a mile off.
Mizuno throws a head kick that misses
and Ding counters with a three punch combo that has Mizuno backing up. Mizuno nods at Ding to acknowledge the strikes.
Mizuno tries to clinch but Ding moves away
and Ding counters with a one-two to the body.
Ding avoids the head kick by Mizuno.
Mizuno sets himself, and Ding steps forward looking for the clinch! Mizuno avoids it this time.
Ding moves out of range of the body kick from Mizuno.
Dick Ding is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ding throws a sloppy head kick and Mizuno moves out of range easily.
Jun Mizuno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ding fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ding circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ding lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Mizuno throws a head kick that misses.
Ding throws a leg kick which misses Mizuno's front leg but catches the back leg as Mizuno tries to avoid it.
Ding is looking to slow Mizuno down with leg kicks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ding shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ding fails to land with a series of punches.
Mizuno is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ding.

Ding gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ding managing to block the knees to the body from Mizuno.
Mizuno tries to land a knee to the head but Ding blocks with his arms.
Ding has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like Jun Mizuno has been cut.

Ding escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Ding counters with a crisp one two that drops Mizuno! Ding thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Mizuno to his feet! Mizuno is in big trouble!

Ding swinging wildly here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ding misses with the combination.

A combination from Ding does no damage.
Mizuno throws a head kick but Ding moves out of range.
As Mizuno backs off Ding throws a huge counter combo but Mizuno manages to avoid it all.
Mizuno is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ding is looking for the big counter here.

Ding shoots in and gets a takedown into Mizuno's guard.
Mizuno is trying to keep Ding in close.
Mizuno preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ding wants to pass the guard but Mizuno is keeping the position.
Mizuno is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ding is controlling him.

Mizuno is working an open guard so Ding takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Ding connects with a right hand. Mizuno shakes it off.
Ding misses with a wild combination.
Mizuno tries a head kick but it misses.
Ding blocks a head kick by Mizuno.
Mizuno tries to close the distance and clinch but Ding swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ding lands a big head kick that sends Mizuno tumbling to the mat! Ding takes a step backwards and waves Mizuno back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Mizuno is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ding shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Mizuno is on queer street and Ding is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Dick Ding!
An out of breath Dick Ding thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Jun Mizuno stepped up to the mic, saying 'Team Goroshi - Kore Fight Nutrition - Euolucao MMA - CEFC'.
