The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeSilva throws an overhand right that lands on Suzinuki's shoulder, as Suzinuki tries to avoid the shot.
DeSilva throws a nice outside leg kick.
DeSilva slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
DeSilva takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like DeMarcus DeSilva has been cut.
Suzinuki misses with a low kick.
Suzinuki throws a lazy uppercut
letting DeSilva counter with a right hand.
DeSilva chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Suzinuki cracks a nice hook into DeSilva's ribs.
Suzinuki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by DeSilva. DeSilva obviously looking to wear him down.
Suzinuki walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. DeSilva checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
DeSilva tries to clinch up.

Suzinuki tries to land a front kick but DeSilva steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
DeSilva lands a head kick. Suzinuki smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

A momentary lapse in concentration from DeSilva enables Suzinuki to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. DeSilva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

DeSilva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Suzinuki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

DeSilva has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Suzinuki is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for DeSilva.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

DeSilva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Suzinuki's waist but Suzinuki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DeSilva off to one side.

DeSilva changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

DeSilva tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Suzinuki manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Suzinuki was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
DeSilva scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Suzinuki throws a hook but DeSilva blocks it.
DeSilva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

so DeSilva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Suzinuki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but DeSilva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
DeSilva wants to control from the top but Suzinuki keeps moving.

DeSilva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Suzinuki is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Suzinuki has escaped and now he's on top!

Suzinuki knocks out DeSilva with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Suzinuki before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Suzinuki picks up the big W with a huge KO!

Lotus Suzinuki decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
