Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Guzman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guzman has chosen Frozen by Celldweller & Blue Stahli as his entrance music. Ricardo Guzman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Troy Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Guzman!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guzman dives in and scores a takedown into Larson's guard.
Guzman slips nicely into half guard.

Guzman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Guzman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guzman seems to be looking for submissions.
Guzman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Larson wants to get back to his feet.

Larson has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Guzman is on him like a limpet, forcing Larson back against the cage.

Guzman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Larson can't fight it off and eventually Guzman manages to take the fight to the floor. Larson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Guzman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Larson pushes Guzman off looking to stand but Guzman dives back in and keeps control.

Guzman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Guzman is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Guzman prevents Larson from getting back to his feet.

Guzman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Larson dives on top into guard.

Larson lands a couple of digs.
Guzman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Guzman wants to get back to his feet but Larson passes into half guard.
Guzman is pressing down on Larson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Guzman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Larson's guard.

Guzman looks winded!

Guzman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Larson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Guzman has Larson in his guard.


Guzman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Larson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Larson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Larson prevents Guzman from getting back to his feet.
Larson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Guzman is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guzman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Larson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Larson connects with a couple of short punches.
Guzman has momentary wrist control but Larson slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Guzman has a closed guard, preventing Larson from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Guzman feints and as Larson raises his hands in defense, Guzman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Larson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Guzman wants to free his trapped foot but Larson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Larson misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Larson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Larson gets caught flat footed, as Guzman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Guzman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Larson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Guzman, into his guard.

Larson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Guzman has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Larson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Guzman.

Larson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Guzman has escaped the position, nice work there.

Well Guzman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ricardo Guzman spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
