Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Kruk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Popo Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Kruk has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Kruk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Popo Jones!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruk throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jones's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jones duly obliges.
Kruk tries a head kick but it misses.
Kruk dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones blocks a head kick by Kruk.
Kruk looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
Jones moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kruk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Kruk's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jones lands a few punches from side control.
Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Jones working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kruk wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Kruk is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jones has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Jones connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kruk some visible discomfort.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Kruk has Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Kruk tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones wants a takedown.
Jones is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Kruk. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jones manages to end up in side control.

Jones stands up and beckons Kruk to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Kruk is rocked!

and Jones scores with a counter punch that sends Kruk to the canvas! Jones smells blood - he's punishing Kruk with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Kruk has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
