The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freire closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Freire lands in his opponent's guard.
Freire is pushing down on Bill's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bill is fighting to maintain full guard but Freire has managed to sneak the leg through.
Freire works his foot free and advances to mount.
Freire jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bill is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bill and Freire has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Freire misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
