Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cameron Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cameron Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tom Henry!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Hicks misses the target.

Henry shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hicks's guard.
Hicks controls Henry momentarily but Henry frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hicks is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Henry slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hicks is trying to control Henry's posture but Henry avoids it.
Henry wants to stand but Hicks has his arm trapped.

Hicks manages to get back to half guard.
Hicks is trying to stand back up but Henry is controlling him

Henry decides to stand and escape the position.
Henry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hicks is fending him off so far but Henry persists. Nope, Hicks circles away and we're back to standing.

Hicks avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hicks has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hicks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Henry defends it easily.
Henry is in close to Hicks's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hicks is pulling down on Henry's head to control his posture.

Henry passes into half guard.
Hicks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Henry is working away from the top position though.
Henry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hicks's head.
Hicks pushes Henry off looking to stand but Henry dives back in and keeps control.
Hicks is looking to improve his position.

Henry seems to be looking for submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Henry looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Henry with the ground and pound but Hicks uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Henry scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Henry would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Henry dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hicks stuffs the takedown attempt from Henry. Henry gets slowly back to his feet.
We've been informed that Henry has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Hicks fails with a takedown attempt.
Henry shoots for a double leg takedown but Hicks sprawls well. He's pushed Henry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Henry gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Henry keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hicks is landing with some decent strikes but Henry is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Henry is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hicks content just to control the position here.
Hicks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Henry can do to turn this around?

Hicks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Henry is looking to escape.
Henry is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hicks lands a couple of good shots and Henry has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Hicks just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Hicks is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Henry defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Hicks is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Henry. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Henry tries to escape but Hicks has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Hicks is looking for the choke from the back position but Henry is controlling his hands well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hicks keeps control of the position as Henry tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Hicks defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Henry.

Hicks looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Henry has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hicks is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Henry.

Hicks decides to stand back up. Hicks steps back and let's Henry get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Hicks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Horrible takedown attempt by Henry or perhaps it was just good defense by Hicks, which made it look bad.
Hicks appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Hicks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Henry pinned against the cage. Henry gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Henry shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cameron Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Henry.
Henry takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hicks connects with a nice short shot to Henry's temple.
Hicks prevents Henry from standing back up.

Henry wants to get back to full guard.

Hicks is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hicks takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hicks lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hicks stops Henry from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hicks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Henry.
Hicks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Henry gets caught napping as Hicks dives in and scores a takedown. Henry manages to retain guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Henry is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hicks defends well.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hicks decides to stand and escape the position.

Well Hicks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
