PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Irgam Rasec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bevis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Bevis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Irgam Rasec!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Bevis!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasec fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rasec has Bevis up against the cage in a clinch.

Rasec tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bevis avoids it.
Rasec tries for a takedown. No joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bevis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rasec.

Bevis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rasec is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bevis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rasec clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Bevis is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Rasec is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bevis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Bevis is persistently looking for the submission but Rasec is defending it well.

Bevis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rasec is defending well though. Bevis let's go of the attempt for now.

John Bevis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bevis tries to clinch up but Rasec circles away and keeps his distance.
Bevis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rasec's waist but Rasec gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bevis off to one side.
Rasec attempts a counter takedown but Bevis avoids it well and moves away.
Rasec shoots for a double leg takedown but Bevis sprawls well. He's pushed Rasec's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bevis feints and as Rasec raises his hands in defense, Bevis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bevis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bevis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rasec could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bevis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rasec dives in and scores a takedown into Bevis's guard.

Bevis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rasec swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rasec looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bevis puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Bevis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rasec is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Bevis trying to control but Rasec is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rasec is on top in guard.

John Bevis has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bevis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rasec doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rasec manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Irgam Rasec will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Bevis goes for a double leg but Rasec avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rasec continues to drive forward.

Bevis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rasec changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bevis tries to avoid it but Rasec manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bevis to the ground. Bevis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rasec throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bevis was covering up waiting for the punch and Rasec finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rasec is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rasec decides to return to a standing position.

Bevis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rasec uses from the top position.
