Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Markus Lindblom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Silva!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lindblom gets a clinch.
Lindblom lands a nice elbow.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lindblom gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Silva is trying to push Lindblom away but Lindblom has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Silva fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Silva takes an elbow to the forehead.
Lindblom manages to break the clinch.
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lindblom's waist but Lindblom gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Markus Lindblom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Silva.
Silva tries for a takedown but Lindblom circles away easily
and Lindblom counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva wants to clinch.
Lindblom throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lindblom gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lindblom escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lindblom throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Silva crashing down! Silva tries to stagger back to his feet but Lindblom just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Silva asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Markus Lindblom!
