Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dave Schultz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merp Terp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Merp Terp!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schultz stuffs the takedown attempt from Terp. Terp gets slowly back to his feet.
Schultz appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Schultz misses with a two punch combination.
Terp drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Schultz defends it well.
Schultz connects with the punch.

Schultz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Terp quickly recovers to half guard.
Terp is refusing to be controlled, as Schultz sits in half guard.
Schultz is looking to pass Terp's guard but actually Terp recovers to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Terp working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Schultz.

Schultz preventing the sweep.
Terp trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Terp has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Terp had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schultz defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Terp is looking for a triangle but Schultz pushes his legs off easily.
Terp is trying to control the position but Schultz postures up.

Schultz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Terp has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schultz has managed to get both his arms back between Terp's legs - danger averted.
Terp is trying to keep Schultz in close.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schultz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Terp looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Schultz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Schultz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Terp keeping moving, preventing Schultz from controlling successfully.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Schultz is really struggling to control Terp but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Schultz has taken the fight to the clinch.

Schultz turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Schultz manages to end up in side control.
Terp is trying to control Schultz's posture but Schultz avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Terp is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Schultz's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Schultz closes the distance and pushes Terp back into the cage.
Terp looking for a takedown.

Schultz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Schultz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Terp quickly recovers to half guard.
Schultz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Terp on the ground.
Terp regains full guard. Nicely done.
Schultz looking to sit in guard and control but Terp gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schultz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Schultz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Terp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Terp scoring with punches to the head and body.
Schultz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Schultz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Schultz wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Terp manages to pass to side control.
Terp is looking to stall here but Schultz recovers full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Terp landing with the ground and pound.
Terp is stalling in the full guard.
Schultz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Terp can do to turn this around?

Terp drops back looking for a leg! Schultz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schultz manages to kick Terp off! Terp jumps back into Schultz's guard.
Schultz trying to keep a closed guard but Terp is proving a slippery customer.

Schultz wants to stand but Terp is controlling the position.
Terp slips nicely into half guard.
Terp thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Schultz's head.
Schultz gets full guard.
Schultz trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Schultz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Schultz lands a nice leg kick that just misses Terp's sensitive parts.

Schultz looks to clinch

and Terp counters with a single leg into guard. Schultz didn't expect that.
Terp in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Terp working some strikes from top position.
Schultz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Terp.
Terp missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Terp lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Terp's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Schultz wants to get back to his feet but Terp is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Terp wants to control from the top but Schultz keeps moving.
Terp looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Merp Terp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Schultz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Schultz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Terp is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Terp tries to clinch but Schultz is having none of it.

Terp is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Schultz wants to get back to his feet.
Terp drops an elbow to the side of Schultz's head.
My spies in The Boom Boom Room inform me that Terp has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Schultz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Terp scores with a couple of nice shots.
Terp not doing much here.
Schultz is looking to get back to full guard here but Terp has managed to pass to side control instead.

Terp has an Americana. Schultz didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Terp is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Terp hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
