PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Furio Giunta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Quacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Giunta comes to the ring accompanied by The Godfather Theme - Fantomas. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Furio Giunta!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mister Quacker!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quacker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Furio Giunta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Giunta throws a series of punches but Quacker avoids them all with ease.
Giunta misses with a takedown attempt - Quacker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Quacker has closed the distance and engaged Giunta in a clinch.
Quacker is trying to drag Giunta to the mat but Giunta just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Giunta wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Quacker has him pressed against the ropes.
Quacker stalls.
Quacker tries a knee to the head but Giunta blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Quacker breaks the clinch.
Giunta misses with the combination.
Giunta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Giunta throws out a loose jab but Quacker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Quacker gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Giunta.
Giunta clinches but Quacker breaks the clinch

and Quacker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Quacker.
Quacker trying to control but Giunta is working from the bottom.
Giunta can't keep his opponent in guard - Quacker advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Quacker wants to take a breather but Giunta is having none of it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Giunta is looking to control Quacker's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Giunta avoid being mounted?
Quacker missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Quacker is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Quacker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Giunta's head.

Giunta wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Giunta closes the distance and clinches up with Quacker, looking for a takedown. Giunta pushes Quacker against the ropes but Quacker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Quacker has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Giunta connects with a body shot.
Quacker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Giunta.
Giunta misses the jab.
Quacker throws a right and a left that Giunta avoids nicely.
Giunta lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Giunta gets caught flat footed, as Quacker shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Giunta controls Quacker momentarily but Quacker frees himself.
Giunta keeping full guard, as Quacker tries to pass.
Giunta manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Quacker working to try and regain half guard.
Quacker looks gassed!
Quacker tries to lock up and control but Giunta gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Quacker can't escape the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Quacker is squirming around, avoiding Giunta's attempts to control the action.
Quacker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Giunta lands a nice shot to the head.
Giunta wants to control the pace but Quacker is squirming around nicely.

Quacker tries to hold on but Giunta pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Furio Giunta will probably get the nod.

Giunta shoots in and drives through. Quacker sprawls well.

Quacker has closed the distance and engaged Giunta in a clinch.
Giunta is looking to break free of the clinch but Quacker has double underhooks.
Giunta can't break the clinch.

Quacker gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Quacker trying to control but Giunta is working from the bottom.
Quacker is looking to advance position but Giunta has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Quacker is working to get back to half guard.
Giunta lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Quacker tries to hold on but Giunta pushes him away.
Giunta knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Quacker on the ground.
Giunta controlling the position easily from mount.
Quacker is looking to improve his position but Giunta isn't that keen on the idea.
Quacker is breathing heavily.
Quacker is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Quacker wants to control but Giunta is having none of it.
Quacker is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Quacker tries to hold on but Giunta postures up.
Giunta takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Quacker gets back to half guard.
Giunta is keen to just control but Quacker is a slippery customer.

Quacker looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Giunta takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Quacker is trying to get back to full guard.

Giunta is taking a breather. Quacker says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Giunta is tying to control. Quacker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Furio Giunta just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Giunta closes the distance but Quacker moves to the side

and Quacker moves into the clinch.

Quacker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Quacker is rocked!
No joy there for Giunta, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Giunta wants to clinch but Quacker slips to the side

and Quacker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Giunta won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Giunta gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Quacker is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Giunta has managed to free his arm - good work.
Giunta wants to get back to full guard.
Quacker wants to free his trapped foot but Giunta is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A close second round but Mister Quacker will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Giunta gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Quacker.

Giunta has had enough of the clinch but Quacker keeps him there for the moment.
Quacker jumps guard but Giunta stands there with Quacker around his waist. Quacker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Quacker swings wildly with an uppercut but Giunta uses good head movement to avoid it.

Giunta wants to break free but Quacker has control.
Quacker tries to land a knee to the head but Giunta blocks with his arms.

Quacker gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Quacker blocks the strikes from Giunta.
Giunta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Giunta is holding on to half guard well.
Giunta moves into full guard.
Giunta controlling Quacker's posture.
Quacker postures up.

Quacker looking to sit in guard and control but Giunta gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Giunta has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Quacker is trying to control the position but Giunta postures up.
Quacker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Giunta kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Quacker is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Quacker tries to bench press Giunta off him but Giunta keeps the position.
Giunta remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Quacker takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Quacker is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Quacker trying to control the position from guard on top but Giunta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Giunta misses with a body kick.

and Quacker counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Quacker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Giunta throws a hook but Quacker blocks it.
Quacker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Giunta lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Giunta drops Quacker with a beautiful combination! Quacker stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Giunta is looking for the KO!
Giunta lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Quacker falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Furio Giunta!
