PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rickon Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladislav Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Rickon Stark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vladislav Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark feints a jab promting Volkov to slip. Stark then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Volkov slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Vladislav Volkov has been cut.
No joy there for Stark, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stark works over Volkov's head and body with a nice combination.
Stark throws a right hand that Volkov ducks under and follows up with a left that Volkov also avoids with ease.
Volkov throws a wild body kick that Stark sees coming a mile off.
Stark seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Stark tries to bum rush Volkov with a series of wild strikes but Volkov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Volkov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Volkov lands in his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Volkov looking to sit in guard and control but Stark gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stark stands and throws Volkov's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stark has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stark tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Stark scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Volkov to see if he's OK.
Stark has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Volkov tries to bench press Stark off him but Stark keeps the position.
Stark wants to control but Volkov is keeping him busy.
Volkov trying to control but Stark flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Stark has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Volkov.
Volkov grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Stark.
Stark throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Stark is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Stark looking for the choke but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Volkov trying to control the action but Stark just sinks the hooks in.
Volkov rolls, trying to escape but Stark keeps control of the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Volkov looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Volkov is holding on to Stark 's glove but Stark gets free and slips his arm under Volkov 's chin. This could be big trouble! Yes, Volkov is tapping furiously and this one is over!
