Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rickhard Smith!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter scores with a takedown into Smith's guard.
Carter cracks Smith with a solid left hand.
Carter showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully.
Smith is wriggling around but Carter manages to pass to half guard.
Carter slows the pace down in half guard.
Smith is concentrating on defense, preventing Carter from advancing position.

Carter sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Smith is looking to improve his position.
Carter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Carter has control of the leg.
Carter is trying to control the action in half guard but Smith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carter in particular looking to stall.
Smith wants to improve his position but Carter is controlling well.
Smith is looking to get back to full guard here but Carter has managed to pass to side control instead.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Carter goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Smith is on top in guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Andrew Carter just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Still in half guard, Carter seems content to control.
Carter wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.
Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carter's back!

Carter wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smith misses with a straight right.
Carter checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Carter swinging wilding here.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Carter.
Still in the clinch, Carter scores with a nice short uppercut.
Carter will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smith up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carter throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease.
A combination from Carter does no damage.
Carter lands a jab-cross combination.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Carter.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carter is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Carter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Smith being controlled here, momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rickhard Smith will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Carter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Carter pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Carter.
Smith throws a head punch that misses.
Carter fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Carter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Stalling in the clinch from Smith.

Carter misses with a body punch.
Smith lands with a right to the head.
Carter tries to break the clinch but Smith is controlling the position.
Carter tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Smith's elbow.

Carter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carter scores with a nice right hand.
Carter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carter off to one side.
Smith misses with an uppercut.
Andrew Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Carter fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Carter feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Carter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
