Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leo Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archie Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sonnen comes to the cage accompanied by Scream Aim Fire. Archie Wilkins acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leo Sonnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Archie Wilkins!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wilkins circles away quickly and effectively.
Sonnen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wilkins throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Archie Wilkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wilkins circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sonnen looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Sonnen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sonnen throws the left hand but Wilkins avoids the punch easily.
Wilkins unleashes a big counter combination but Sonnen bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Wilkins tries to sprawl but Sonnen drives through with a takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sonnen is trying to control the action in half guard but Wilkins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wilkins lands with an uppercut that bounces Sonnen off the cage and back into range.
Sonnen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wilkins.
Wilkins moves out of range as Sonnen strikes.
A little jabbing left from Wilkins on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Wilkins lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Wilkins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sonnen as he avoids it easily.

Sonnen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wilkins.
Sonnen swings for the body but Wilkins moves out of range.
Despite the aggression on Wilkins's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Sonnen slips under a jab from Wilkins.

Sonnen drives through with a takedown into Wilkins's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Sonnen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sonnen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Wilkins is looking to stand up but Sonnen isn't so interested in that idea.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wilkins can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sonnen wants to control from the top but Wilkins keeps moving.
Wilkins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wilkins wants to stand up but Sonnen is controlling him.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sonnen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wilkins avoids the body shot from Sonnen.
Sonnen throws a jab but it's blocked by Wilkins.
Sonnen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wilkins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sonnen but Sonnen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Leo Sonnen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Archie Wilkins.
Wilkins tries to bum rush Sonnen with a series of wild strikes but Sonnen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Sonnen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sonnen.

Wilkins darts in looking for a takedown but Sonnen gets double underhooks and turns Wilkins into the cage.

Sonnen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wilkins can do to turn this around?
Wilkins uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sonnen.
Archie Wilkins seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Wilkins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wilkins showed some decent athleticism there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wilkins is working to avoid the ground and pound but Sonnen connects with a decent elbow.

Wilkins is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sonnen asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Wilkins is looking to get back to his feet here but Sonnen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Wilkins's back.

Sonnen scoring with big shots to the body. Wilkins is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Wilkins was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
