Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Fitzsimmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas MacArthur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacArthur throws a hook but Fitzsimmons blocks it.
MacArthur tries to clinch there but Fitzsimmons circles away.
Fitzsimmons swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

MacArthur throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fitzsimmons's waist but Fitzsimmons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing MacArthur off to one side.

MacArthur tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fitzsimmons sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten MacArthur somewhat.

The fighters circle momentarily. MacArthur darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

As MacArthur looks to move away, Fitzsimmons throws a big counter combo bu MacArthur just gets out of the way.
No joy there for MacArthur, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fitzsimmons is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by MacArthur.

Douglas MacArthur seems to be getting the better of the standup.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fitzsimmons enables MacArthur to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fitzsimmons manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
