Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ramses Kolmas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mats Thoreson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thoreson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kolmas sprawls well. Kolmas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thoreson gets slowly back to his feet.
Thoreson shoots in for a takedown but Kolmas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thoreson is defended easily by Kolmas.
Kolmas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Ramses Kolmas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mats Thoreson.
Kolmas stuffs the takedown attempt from Thoreson. Thoreson gets slowly back to his feet.
Thoreson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kolmas counters with a body kick that stops Thoreson in his tracks momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Thoreson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kolmas, which made it look bad.
Kolmas has Thoreson up against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kolmas throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Thoresons head.
Thoreson is trying to push Kolmas away but Kolmas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Kolmas wants to stall.
Kolmas taking a breather.
Kolmas goes for a takedown attempt but Thoreson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Thoreson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kolmas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thoreson pulls his head out easily.
Thoreson seems to be looking for submissions.
Kolmas tries to roll over but Thoreson keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thoreson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kolmas sees it coming and defends easily.
Kolmas actively working from the bottom here.
Kolmas manages to get to full guard.
Thoreson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kolmas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kolmas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Thoreson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kolmas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thoreson has managed to get both his arms back between Kolmas's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kolmas is looking to cinch up a triangle. Thoreson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kolmas's body to avoid the submission. Kolmas has instead reached around Thoreson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kolmas arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
