Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Castillion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seijuro Akashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Castillion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seijuro Akashi!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castillion tries a head kick but it misses.

Akashi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Castillion swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Akashi wants to get up but he can't break Castillion's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've been hearing good reports from Castillion's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Castillion isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Akashi stacks Castillion on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Akashi!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A nice side step and Akashi releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Castillion working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Akashi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Akashi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Castillion drops back, looking for a kneebar! Akashi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Akashi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Akashi!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Akashi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Castillion looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Castillion has his foot on Akashi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Akashi works his way back into a safe position though.
