Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Deverux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derek Ronnie!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deverux lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Ronnie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Ronnie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Deverux misses with a looping right.
Despite the aggression on Ronnie's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Deverux throws a shot to the body.
Deverux throws a good cross that connects.


It looks like Derek Ronnie has been cut.
Deverux has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Ronnie drives through and clinches with Deverux against the cage.
Ronnie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ronnie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ronnie stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Ronnie decides to pull guard.
Ronnie has a closed guard, preventing Deverux from standing up.

Ronnie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Deverux manages to get himself to full guard.


Ronnie gets to his feet - Deverux follows without any prompting.
Ronnie wants to clinch.
Deverux feinted with a counter takedown.
Deverux keeps the fight on the outside.
Some wild striking there from Deverux.
Despite the aggression on Ronnie's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Deverux scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ronnie looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
No joy there for Ronnie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ronnie rushes Deverux and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Deverux taking a breather.
Deverux has had enough of the clinch but Ronnie keeps him there for the moment.
Ronnie is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Deverux to keep the fight standing.
Steve Deverux has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Ronnie.
Ronnie stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Ronnie will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Deverux up against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Ronnie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ronnie gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Decent striking displayed by Deverux there.
Deverux scores with a nice head shot.
Ronnie is looking to clinch but Deverux is avoiding it.
Ronnie moves out of range of the strikes.
We've been informed that Ronnie has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Deverux jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A jab from Deverux misses.
Ronnie jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Deverux circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ronnie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ronnie closes the distance and clinches.
Deverux looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Ronnie stalling the fight.
Ronnie keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Deverux's efforts to push away.
Ronnie has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Deverux after a bit of a struggle.
Ronnie looks winded!
Ronnie connects with a nasty looking knee right to Deverux's face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Deverux is looking to break free of the clinch but Ronnie has double underhooks.
Ronnie throws a knee to the head but misses.

Ronnie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Deverux looks to land a left hand but Ronnie moved out of range nicely.
Ronnie misses with a series of wild punches.
Deverux throws out a powerful jab.
Ronnie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Deverux will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Derek Ronnie's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ronnie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ronnie throws a body shot but no joy.

Ronnie has taken the fight to the clinch.
Deverux tries to break free but Ronnie pushes him back against the cage.
Deverux working hard to break the clinch.
Ronnie is looking for a takedown.
Ronnie swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ronnie blocks the elbow strike.
Deverux is looking to control Ronnie's arms but Ronnie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Deverux has his back to the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ronnie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Deverux walks away with a smile on his face. Ronnie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Deverux avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Deverux is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Deverux connects with the punch.
Deverux throws a jab when Ronnie was well out of range.
Ronnie is looking for the big counter here.
Ronnie moves away from the strike by Deverux.
Deverux keeps the fight on the outside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ronnie takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Deverux fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Deverux lands a left and a right that send Ronnie crashing to the mat, dazed. Deverux thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Ronnie is rocked!


That has opened up Derek Ronnie's cut even more.
Steve Deverux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ronnie is breathing heavily.
Ronnie misses with a few strikes there.
Deverux changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Deverux is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ronnie can do to turn this around?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Deverux moves out of range of the body kick from Ronnie.
An attempted straight right counter from Deverux misses the target.

Deverux lands a big right hand that sends Ronnie crashing to the mat! Deverux stays standing though and waves Ronnie back to his feet!
Ronnie is still on wobbly legs! Can Deverux finish him?
Deverux steps in with a hook that catches Ronnie right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Deverux follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Ronnie looks absolutely devastated.
