The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Small shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.
Smith stuffs the takedown.
Small shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Barry Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nik Small.
Horrible takedown by Small or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.
Smith moves out of range as Small throws a body kick.
Smith gets the takedown into side control.
Smith has hold of Small's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Small tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Smith cranks the arm and Small screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Small, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
