Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Chernov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hess comes to the cage accompanied by Demiurge. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergey Chernov!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chernov lands a leg kick that knocks Hess off balance momentarily.
Chernov has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hess is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Chernov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hess.
Hess lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Sergey Chernov has been cut.
Hess tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Chernov cracks Hess with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


It looks like Jon Hess has been cut.
Good work by Hess as he checks the leg kick.
Hess moves out of range of the body kick.

Chernov lands a big head kick that sends Hess tumbling to the mat! Chernov takes a step backwards and waves Hess back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hess tries to work over Chernov's front leg with a kick but Chernov checks it.
Hess pivots, looking for a leg kick but Chernov is out of range and Hess settles back down.
Chernov takes a jab right on the kisser.
Chernov slips a jab from Hess.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hess.
Hess misses with a leg kick.
Hess throws a right and a left that Chernov avoids nicely.
Chernov throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Hess swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hess has been working on his boxing with his coaches at House of 1000 Corpses in the buildup to the fight.
Hess throws a chopping leg kick but Chernov manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hess misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hess tries to clinch but Chernov moves away
and Chernov counters with a slapping leg kick.
Hess throws a right hand that misses
letting Chernov counter with a right hand.
Chernov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A nice leg kick lands there from Chernov.
Chernov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hess.
Hess rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chernov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice defenses there by Hess.
Jon Hess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hess lands with an overhand left.
Chernov takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Chernov thuds a left hand into Hess's body.
Hess tried to score with a low kick but Chernov checks it.
A slow jab from Hess misses its intended target.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hess tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hess swings for the body but Chernov moves out of range.

Hess throws a shot to the body.
Hess throws a combination that misses
letting Chernov counter with a right hand.


Jon Hess's cut is getting worse.
Chernov lands a body shot.
Hess is breathing heavily.
Hess takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Chernov throws a nice outside leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hess.
Hess takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Chernov moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Chernov dips to his left and cracks Hess with an uppercut!
Hess throws a series of punches but Chernov moves out of range.
Chernov flicks out a counter leg kick but Hess steps away.
Hess looks up at the clock. Bad move! Chernov lands a right hand from hell, dropping Hess. Chernov pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergey Chernov!
Sergey Chernov decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
