Marshall has chosen I Shot the Sheriff by Eric Clapton as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffman dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Marshall has a takedown stuffed.

We've been told by Hoffman's head coaches at Cylon Training Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Riley Marshall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marshall closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Marshall keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hoffman's efforts to push away.

Hoffman went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Marshall is still on wobbly legs! Can Hoffman finish him?
Hoffman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marshall manages to avoid it.
Marshall seems to have recovered his senses.
A nice inside leg kick there by Marshall. That's going to slow Hoffman down.
Hoffman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Marshall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoffman was well out of range. Poor timing from Marshall.
A little feinted left hand from Hoffman on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Marshall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Marshall dips to his left and cracks Hoffman with an uppercut!
Marshall tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoffman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Marshall lands with a slapping head kick.
Hoffman looks to land a left hand but Marshall moved out of range nicely.
Marshall throws a lazy uppercut
and Hoffman counters with a leg kick.
Hoffman throws a sloppy body shot
and Marshall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Marshall is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Hoffman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hoffman steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Marshall is out on his feet! Hoffman sets himself and nearly takes Marshall's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jack Hoffman!
After the fight, Jack Hoffman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
The defeated Riley Marshall had this to say: 'You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!'.
