Rear is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Hideo Itami has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dave Rear's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Itami changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rear tries to avoid it but Itami manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rear to the ground. Rear escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rear is breathing heavily.

Itami throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rear was covering up waiting for the punch and Itami finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Itami passes into half guard.
Rear is staying active underneath Itami, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Itami is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rear sees it coming and defends easily.
Rear blocking the ground and pound attempt from Itami.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rear is looking to escape.
Rear is looking to get back to full guard here but Itami has managed to pass to side control instead.

Itami is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rear can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Itami quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Itami but it's paid off an Rear is forced to tap! Nice work by Itami.
