PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lunt Cicker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker has chosen Heard it through the grapevine - Marvin Gaye as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Lunt Cicker has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lunt Cicker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey Parker!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cicker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cicker managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Parker.
Parker tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Parker working away.
The ground and pound from Parker seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Cicker can't do much from the bottom here.

Parker throws an elbow but Cicker slips to the side and avoids it well.

Cicker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Parker is working away from the top position though.

Cicker is looking to control Parker's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cicker avoid being mounted?
Cicker is doing well to control the position and prevent Parker from advancing to side control.
Parker not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cicker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Parker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Parker's back!

Cicker is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Parker is trying to get back to his feet but Cicker has full control of the position and if anything, Parker has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cicker's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cicker wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.
Cicker throws a big right hand that misses.
Cicker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cicker drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Parker dives on top into guard.


Cicker looking for a guillotine here but Parker defends easily.
Parker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cicker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Parker makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Cicker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Parker wants to control from the top but Cicker keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Corey Parker will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Parker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cicker to the mat! Cicker manages to get full guard.
Cicker is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Cicker pulls Parker in close to his closed guard and prevents Parker from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Parker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cicker circles away quickly and effectively.
Parker throws out a loose jab but Cicker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Parker tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cicker defends well and Parker ends up having to push Cicker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cicker misses the shot to the body.
Lunt Cicker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parker gets a clinch.
Cicker misses with a body punch.
Parker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Cicker swings wildly with an uppercut but Parker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cicker scores with a shot to the side of Parker's head.
Cicker scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Parker obliges.
Parker scores with a nice hook to the head.


It looks like Lunt Cicker has been cut.
Cicker blocks an uppercut.
Parker lands a left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Parker misses with a hook to the ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Parker lands a right hand that snaps the head of Cicker backwards.
A hook to the body from Parker.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Parker connects with a nasty looking knee right to Cicker's face.
Parker gets through Cicker's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Parker scores with a shot to the side of Cicker's head.
Parker lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Cicker has a couple of punches blocked by Parker.

Parker is trying to trip Cicker. He has hold of a leg but Cicker is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Parker persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Parker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Parker is looking to take a break and control but Cicker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Parker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Parker lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Cicker down.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Parker. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Cicker is looking to reverse the position.
Parker lands an elbow.

Parker trying to control the position but Cicker is working away.
Cicker is looking to reverse the position.
Parker gets to mount! Cicker was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Parker avoids the attempt from Cicker to control.
Cicker gets back to half guard.
Parker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Parker slips a nice elbow through Cicker's hands, connecting with Cicker's forehead.
Parker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Cicker is doing well to control the position and prevent Parker from advancing to side control.
Parker is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.


Lunt Cicker's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lunt Cicker's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
