Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacare Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacare Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz keeps the fight on the outside.
Romero fails with the takedown

and Cruz counters with a shoot takedown. Romero fights it but they end up in guard.
Cruz throws a big right hand that misses.
Cruz throws a big elbow that misses.
Cruz trying to control the position from guard on top but Romero is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Romero holds on and takes a little breather.
Cruz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cruz takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Romero tries to close the distance and clinch but Cruz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cruz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Romero to the mat! Romero manages to get full guard.

Romero had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cruz defends it easily.
Romero is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cruz looking to sit in guard and control but Romero gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Romero wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Romero tries to roll over but Cruz keeps him under control.
Romero is trying to maintain the position but Cruz is very close to passing his half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cruz is trying to work for a kimura but Romero is defending well.

Romero is defending against the submission attempts here by Cruz.

Cruz drops an elbow to the side of Romero's head.
Cruz not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Cruz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Romero lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Romero is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cruz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cruz's back!
Cruz breaks Romero's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Cruz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Romero's head.
Romero wants to sweep but no luck.

Romero thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Romero bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cruz's guard.

Romero throws a strike but Cruz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luis Cruz dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Romero throws an overhand right that lands on Cruz's shoulder, as Cruz tries to avoid the shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Romero looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cruz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Cruz moves out of range of the strikes.

Romero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cruz did well to prevent Romero getting side control.
Cruz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Romero is working away from the top position though.
Romero throws a strike but Cruz avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Romero lands a couple of elbows.

Romero is looking to cinch up a triangle. Cruz throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Romero's body to avoid the submission. Romero has instead reached around Cruz's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Romero arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jacare Romero!
Jacare Romero decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
