PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grant Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by White Rabbit. Tim Hawk will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grant Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Knight is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hawk.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hawk! But no joy.
The fighters circling - Knight throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Knight lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawk circles away quickly and effectively.
Hawk swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Knight throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Knight thows a left - swing and a miss!
A little jabbing left from Hawk on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Knight looks to land a right hand but Hawk moved out of range.
Hawk throws out a counter right but Knight avoids it with no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawk slips a jab and a cross from Knight.
It seemed like Hawk was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Knight fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hawk manages to avoid it.
Hawk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knight goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Hawk swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Hawk avoids a kick to the body.
Knight feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hawk's calf.
Knight tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hawk throws out a counter right but Knight avoids it with no problem.
Knight throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hawk.
Hawk keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Knight.
Hawk looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Knight throws out a leg kick but Hawk moves out of range and Knight only half commits.
A little jabbing left from Hawk on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knight throws a hook but Hawk avoids it easily.
Hawk swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Knight throws a series of punches but Hawk moves out of range.
Hawk looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Knight lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hawk has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hawk and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Knight misses with a low kick as Hawk jumps back.
Knight feints and then cracks Hawk's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hawk down.
Sloppy strikes from Knight. Those never looked like landing.
Knight throws an overhand right that lands on Hawk's shoulder, as Hawk tries to avoid the shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hawk stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Knight.
Knight uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hawk has time to react.

Knight lands a big head kick that sends Hawk tumbling to the mat! Knight takes a step backwards and waves Hawk back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Hawk is rocked!


It looks like Tim Hawk has been cut.
Knight misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hawk.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hawk! But no joy.
Hawk is still on wobbly legs! Can Knight finish him?
Hawk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hawk swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Knight feints and then cracks Hawk's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hawk down.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Knight throws a lazy uppercut
letting Hawk counter with a right hand.
Hawk seems to have recovered his senses.

Knight feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hawk sprawling to the canvas! Hawk rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Knight finish him?!
Knight throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hawk uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Knight.
Knight misses with a double jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hawk! But no joy.
Knight fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hawk looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Knight swings for the body but Hawk moves out of range.
Hawk on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Knight misses with an uppercut. Hawk saw that one coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grant Knight dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tim Hawk's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hawk blocks a leg kick.
Knight works over Hawk's head and body with a nice combination.
Grant Knight is winning the standup battle so far.
Knight throws a hook but Hawk avoids it easily.
Knight throws a shot from downtown. Hawk moves away and avoids it.
Hawk swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Knight cracks the inside of Hawk's front leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Knight drops Hawk with a huge uppercut! Hawk drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Knight is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Grant Knight!
A very excited looking Grant Knight made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, Tim Hawk stepped up to the mic, saying 'I Always hated how i had a glass jaw and lanky limbs but i stuck with it.Next time im gonna come back better than ever.'.
