Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Massimo Paterno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Big Tree!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paterno closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tree did well to prevent Paterno getting side control.
Paterno throwing shots but Tree is blocking nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tree on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Paterno works his way into side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paterno throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Paterno is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tree's shoulder. That is not cool.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tree can do anything to dispel that myth.
Paterno tries to advance to mount but Tree denies him.
Paterno is trying to get an arm triangle but Tree is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paterno has an Americana. Tree didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Paterno is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Paterno hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Massimo Paterno!
