Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezekiel Harrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Sagress (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ezekiel Harrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Sagress!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sagress pushes Harrell up against the cage in a clinch.

Sagress has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Harrell uses from the top position.
Sagress has a closed guard, preventing Harrell from standing up.
Harrell trying to control but Sagress is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sagress is on top in guard.

Sagress trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sagress working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sagress controls from within his opponent's guard.

Sagress drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Harrell dives on top into guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sagress pushes Harrell off and scrambles back to his feet.

Sagress clinches up with Harrell and pushes him back against the cage.

Sagress tightens his grip and picks Harrell up, before dumping him to the ground. Harrell manages to land in guard.
Harrell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sagress's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sagress trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sagress trying to control but Harrell is working from the bottom.
Sagress throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sagress passes Harrell's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Sagress missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Harrell is trying to maintain the position but Sagress is very close to passing his half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sagress thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sagress in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sagress looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Sagress closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sagress tries to move to mount but Harrell blocks the move with his legs.
Harrell is trying to control Sagress's posture but Sagress avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sagress decides to stand up, so the ref orders Harrell to his feet.
Sagress lands with an uppercut that bounces Harrell off the cage and back into range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Sagress dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ezekiel Harrell's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Sagress throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Harrell was covering up waiting for the punch and Sagress finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sagress advances position into side control!

Sagress is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Harrell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Harrell manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sagress's best efforts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sagress wants to control but Harrell is keeping him busy.
Sagress has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sagress tries to stand and escape but Harrell is controlling the position.

Harrell wants to control but Sagress is keeping busy.

Sagress showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Sagress stopping the sweep attempt from Harrell.
Harrell is trying to control the position but Sagress postures up.
Sagress stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harrell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harrell keeping moving, preventing Sagress from controlling successfully.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sagress misses with a body kick.

Sagress shoots in and gets a takedown into Harrell's guard.
Sagress trying to control but Harrell is working from the bottom.
Sagress missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Harrell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sagress trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Sagress would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Sagress forces his way into half guard.
Harrell wants to control but Sagress is keeping busy.

Sagress postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Harrell to stand up.

Sagress feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Harrell looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Sagress gets to his feet - Harrell follows without any prompting.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sagress bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sagress is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Harrell will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Harrell controls the position for a moment.
Sagress is looking to take a break and control but Harrell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Harrell avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Sagress.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Sagress showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Harrell enables Sagress to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Harrell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sagress tries to free his leg and advance position but Harrell is retaining full guard.

Sagress decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Harrell, up you get!
Harrell has his takedown stuffed

and Sagress holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Sagress is struggling to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harrell pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Sagress wants the takedown. Harrell is fighting it off but Sagress persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Harrell's guard against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sagress is stalling in the full guard.
John Sagress has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sagress drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Harrell manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sagress has Harrell in his guard.

Sagress keeping moving, preventing Harrell from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Harrell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sagress is proving hard to escape from.

Sagress has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Harrell is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sagress.
Sagress is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sagress can't do much from the bottom here.
Sagress is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Harrell is controlling him well.
You can see the frustration on Sagress's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sagress looking for a sweep but Harrell has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Poor strikes thrown by Harrell there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Sagress manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Sagress is trying to get back to full guard.
Sagress is trying to maintain the position but Harrell is very close to passing his half guard.

John Sagress comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sagress has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
