Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeffrey Macias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borys Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeffrey Macias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Borys Mir!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mir tries to keep at a distance but Macias has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mir prevents a takedown attempt there.
Mir blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Macias is looking for a takedown.

Mir turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mir manages to end up in side control.
Macias is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mir connects with a decent elbow.
Mir moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macias tries to bench press Mir off him but Mir keeps the position.

Macias is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Macias is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mir has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Mir shoots in and gets a takedown into Macias's guard.

Mir drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Macias dives on top into guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mir holds on and takes a little breather.
Macias pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mir is keeping the position for now.
Mir keeping moving, preventing Macias from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mir is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mir passes into half guard.
Macias pushes Mir off looking to stand but Mir dives back in and keeps control.
Mir content to control rather than advance.
Macias looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mir is looking to take a break and control but Macias is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Macias misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Macias tries to kick Mir off but Mir keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Mir wants to work for an arm triangle but Macias is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Macias is trying to control but can't.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mir decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Mir is looking to take a break and control but Macias is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's time! Macias's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Macias fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mir to the ground. Macias is now in Mir's guard.
Mir looking to control.

Mir isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Macias stacks Mir on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Macias!

Macias wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mir, who protects the arm well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mir looks to move to half guard but instead Macias has passed into mount! Damn!

Mir wants to control but Macias is having none of it.
Macias looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Borys Mir has got the better of the ground game so far.

Macias is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Mir misses with a body kick.

Mir fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Macias sprawls well initially but Mir persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mir is breathing heavily.

Macias trying to control but Mir postures up.
Macias is trying to stand back up but Mir is controlling him

Macias has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mir is on him like a limpet, forcing Macias back against the cage.

Macias escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mir drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mir engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Macias is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Macias is looking to stand up but Mir isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Macias has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Macias uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Mir shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Macias manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Macias is trying to control the position but Mir postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Macias wriggles free and stands up.

Macias is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mir's half guard.

Macias is working for a submission of some sort.
Mir controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeffrey Macias dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Mir takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Mir moves into the clinch.

Mir jumps guard and drags Macias to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Macias really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mir will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mir goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Jeffrey Macias has been cut.
Mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mir misses with an attempted mid kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by Macias or perhaps it was just good defense by Mir, which made it look bad.
Mir misses with a double jab
and Macias counters with a one-two to the body.

Macias rushes Mir and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mir takes a knee to the side of the body.
Mir is trying to push Macias away but Macias has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A nice right hand lands inside from Macias.
Macias wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mir tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Macias avoids it.
Macias putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Mir in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Macias has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mir clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Mir tries to escape but Macias has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Will Macias go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
