Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Juarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lawrence Aranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aranda looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Juarez!
Aranda scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Juarez to see if he's OK.
Juarez gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Aranda is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Juarez throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Aranda thows a huge punch but Juarez dodges it nicely.
Juarez is controlling Aranda's position as best he can from this difficult position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aranda wants to get up but he can't break Juarez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Aranda wanted to stand there but Juarez had control of the position.
Aranda throws a big elbow that misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Juarez holds on and takes a little breather.
Aranda would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Juarez is looking for a triangle but Aranda pushes his legs off easily.

Aranda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aranda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Juarez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Juarez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aranda defends it easily.
Juarez wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Juarez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Juarez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Aranda wants to stand up but Juarez is controlling him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Aranda wants to stand and escape but Juarez is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Juarez wants to improve his position but Aranda is controlling well.

Aranda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Aranda might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Juarez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Aranda connects with a nice short shot to Juarez's temple.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Aranda not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Juarez wants to control but Aranda is keeping busy.

Juarez is looking to control Aranda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Juarez avoid being mounted?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Aranda wants to clinch.

Juarez keeps Aranda under control for a moment.
Aranda scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Juarez is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Aranda can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
