Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Blue Smith!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith has Reed up against the cage in a clinch.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Smith moves out of range of the body kick from Reed.

It looks like David Reed has been cut.

The referee is keeping an eye on Reed - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Smith goes for a takedown attempt but Reed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Smith takes a jab right on the kisser.
Reed keeps Smith at a distance using the push kick.
Reed lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Reed throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.

Smith avoids the head kick by Reed.
Smith dives in and grabs Reed's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reed pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.

Reed lands with a cross.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Reed dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Smith misses with a body punch
and Reed counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Reed sprawls well.

Reed has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Smith on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Reed. Reed obviously looking to wear him down.

Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Reed gets through Smith's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Reed is struggling to control the position.

Reed is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Reed finish him?
Reed has Smith pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Smith is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Reed - that's hurt Smith badly! Oh, another knee lands and Smith is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Smith doesn't seem to be complaining.
