PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Mcbride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rock Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rock Allen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Mcbride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rock Allen!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen fails to land with a series of punches.
Mcbride drops down looking for a counter takedown but Allen sprawls and moves away.
Allen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcbride pinned against the cage. Mcbride gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Allen gets a clinch.
Allen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mcbride avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Allen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Allen wants to pass the guard but Mcbride is keeping the position.
Mcbride looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Allen throwing strikes but missing.
Allen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Allen trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcbride is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcbride pulls Allen in close to his closed guard and prevents Allen from doing any damage or advancing position.
Allen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Allen trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcbride is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Allen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mcbride tries to avoid it but Allen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mcbride to the ground. Mcbride escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jordan Mcbride has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rock Allen.
Some wild striking there from Allen.
Mcbride changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Allen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mcbride on the side of the head.
A right-left combo lands from Allen.

Allen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Allen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mcbride manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Allen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mcbride is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Allen, into his guard.

Mcbride slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Allen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Allen throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Allen working for submissions but it's allowed Mcbride to get to half guard.
Allen looks winded!
Mcbride trying to control the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rock Allen dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mcbride throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Allen misses with a kick to the body.
Allen fails to land with a series of punches.
Mcbride half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Mcbride dodges the punch combination from Allen.
Allen lands a nice shot that snaps Mcbride's head back.
A punch combination from Mcbride misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allen misses with a two punch combination.
Mcbride tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Allen was well out of range. Poor timing from Mcbride.
No joy there for Mcbride, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A low kick from Allen is predictable there

and Mcbride counters with a nice double leg into side control. Allen won't be happy with that.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcbride wants to lay and pray for a moment but Allen keeps working.
Allen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mcbride tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcbride has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Allen is trying to control Mcbride's posture but Mcbride avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Allen is looking to regain half guard here but Mcbride keeps moving and retains side control.
Allen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mcbride asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Mcbride controls the position.
Allen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mcbride wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Mcbride politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mcbride prefers to stall for the moment though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allen moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Allen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Jordan Mcbride has been cut.

Allen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcbride was covering up waiting for the punch and Allen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Allen is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcbride has wrist control.
Allen is breathing heavily.
Mcbride has a closed guard, preventing Allen from standing up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcbride throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Allen tries to stand but Mcbride is controlling from the bottom.
Allen with a nice head shot there.

Mcbride working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Allen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Allen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Allen looking to sit in guard and control but Mcbride gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rock Allen will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Jordan Mcbride's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Mcbride moves in looking to clinch but Allen pushes him off.
Allen throws a right and a left that Mcbride avoids nicely.
Mcbride attempts a counter takedown but Allen avoids it well and moves away.
Allen shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mcbride eats them both and turns towards Allen to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


Mcbride is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Allen has cracked Mcbride with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Allen lands another huge swinging hook and Mcbride tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Mcbride, before Allen can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rock Allen!
Rock Allen decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
