PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Jersey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ramirez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Megadeth-Trust. Jersey is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Enter Sandman. Alex Ramirez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Jersey!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez fails with the takedown.
Ramirez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Jersey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ramirez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jersey has managed to get both his arms back between Ramirez's legs - danger averted.

Ramirez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jersey defends it easily.

Ramirez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jersey pulls his head out easily.

Ramirez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jersey is working away from the top position though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jersey connects with a nice short shot to Ramirez's temple.

Jersey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ramirez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jersey pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ramirez back to the cage. Jersey follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Jersey changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ramirez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jersey is fending him off so far but Ramirez persists. Nope, Jersey circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ramirez wants to sweep here but Jersey controlling him for the moment.

Ramirez throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jersey escapes and throws Ramirez's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ramirez tries to improve position but can't.
Jersey in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Jersey is staying tight to Ramirez's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Ramirez tries to buck Jersey off but Jersey is having none of it.

Jersey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jersey looks up at the clock and then as Ramirez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jersey smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jersey has control of an arm but Ramirez manages to advance to Jersey's back!
Jersey breaks Ramirez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dan Jersey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jersey checks a leg kick.

Jersey tries to move into range but Ramirez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Jersey closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ramirez did well to prevent Jersey getting side control.

Ramirez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jersey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jersey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ramirez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jersey swivels and escapes.

Jersey drops Ramirez with a beautiful combination! Ramirez stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jersey is looking for the KO!


Ramirez is rocked!

Jersey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Oh Ramirez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jersey makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Jersey arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Ramirez's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Dan Jersey!
A determined Dan Jersey didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
