And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Fernadez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fernadez falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kartes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kartes is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fernadez is defending well for now.
Kartes stops a takedown attempt from Fernadez.
Kartes breaks the clinch.
Fernadez gets tackled into the cage by Kartes. Kartes maintains the clinch.
Fernadez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Fernadez is trying to drag Kartes to the mat but Kartes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kartes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fernadez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kartes is defending well.
Luiz Kartes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Fernadez.
Kartes prevents the takedown attempt.

Kartes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fernadez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A jab from Kartes does it's job there.
Kartes takes the fight into the clinch.
Fernadez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kartes jumps into guard, dragging Fernadez to the mat.
Kartes is adopting a defensive guard.
Kartes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kartes tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fernadez controls his leg.
Kartes is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kartes is trying for a kimura here. Fernadez looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Kartes wins by kimura!
