And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalle Kula!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sims connects with a crisp jab.
Sims misses with a hook.
A punch lands to the side of Kula 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Kula shoots for a takedown but Sims saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Decent striking displayed by Sims there.
Sims throws a hook but Kula avoids it easily.

and Kula takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

William Sims has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kalle Kula.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kula drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kula jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've been hearing good reports from Sims's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kula sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sims's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kula thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kula goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sims has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kula but great work by Sims.
Kula gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Kula wants to improve his position but Sims is controlling well.

That was a close round but I would say that William Sims will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kula changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Kula takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kula dives in and scores a takedown into Sims's guard.
Kula stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sims swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sims will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Kula has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Sims defend it? Kula steps over the head and cranks it - Sims is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kula!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kalle Kula!
After winning the bout, Kalle Kula thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
