Lawlor comes to the cage accompanied by Irigy Hónaljmirigy - Rúgj Chuck Norris (Chuck Norris parody by Hungarians). OQuinn has chosen King Gordy - Damian as his entrance music. Damien OQuinn has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Lawlor's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Lawlor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damien OQuinn!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawlor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but OQuinn was well out of range. Poor timing from Lawlor.
We've been informed that OQuinn has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
OQuinn throws a body punch but Lawlor moves out of range.
Lawlor lands a jab.

and OQuinn counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like John Lawlor has been cut.

OQuinn closes the distance and clinches.

OQuinn breaks the clinch.
A jab lands there for Lawlor.
OQuinn scores with a jab to the body.

Lawlor shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches OQuinn napping and manages to drive through into side control!

OQuinn tries to bench press Lawlor off him but Lawlor keeps the position.

Lawlor swings around for an armbar but OQuinn sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lawlor's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lawlor is on top in guard.

Lawlor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. OQuinn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lawlor is looking to advance position but OQuinn won't allow it.

Lawlor is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lawlor thows a huge punch but OQuinn dodges it nicely.
OQuinn gets full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lawlor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. OQuinn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lawlor has gone for a leg lock! OQuinn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lawlor's guard.

Lawlor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lawlor is looking to sweep but instead, OQuinn has passed into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
OQuinn wants to pass the guard but Lawlor is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lawlor doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lawlor shoots in for a double leg but OQuinn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
OQuinn wants to clinch.

Lawlor throws a half hearted mid kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lawlor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by OQuinn.
Lawlor shoots in for a double leg but OQuinn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Lawlor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
OQuinn throws a push kick but Lawlor slaps the foot to one side.

and OQuinn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by OQuinn.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Damien OQuinn will probably get the nod.

That's time! Lawlor's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lawlor just misses with a punch to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Lawlor.
Lawlor doesn't succeed with the takedown
and OQuinn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
OQuinn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and OQuinn wants it to stay on the feet.
Lawlor scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. OQuinn doesn't seem bothered though.

OQuinn has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lawlor finds it's way round the side to connect with OQuinn's head.
OQuinn tries a head kick but it misses.
Lawlor scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and OQuinn counters with a crisp one two that drops Lawlor! OQuinn thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Lawlor to his feet! Lawlor is in big trouble!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

OQuinn instigates a clinch.
Oh Lawlor is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
OQuinn using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Lawlor seems to have got his legs back now.

Lawlor misses with a telegraphed body shot
and OQuinn counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Damien OQuinn!
A very excited looking Damien OQuinn made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, John Lawlor stepped up to the mic, saying 'there is always tomorrow'.
