The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bashman clinches with his opponent.
Pops throws a head punch that misses.
Pops goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Pops works on Bashman's body with a couple of short punches.
Bashman content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Bashman misses with an elbow strike.
Pops is trying to drag Bashman to the mat but Bashman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Pops blocks an elbow strike from Bashman.

Pops misses with a short punch on the inside.

Pops avoids the elbow strike from Bashman, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bashman pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Bashman.
Bashman wants to stall.
Bashman creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Pops's defenses.

It looks like Jason Pops has been cut.
Pops struggles to land a body shot inside as Bashman controls his hands.

Pops goes for a takedown attempt but Bashman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bashman has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Pops is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Hulk Bashman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pops fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bashman manages to avoid it.
Pops throws a body punch but Bashman moves out of range.
Bashman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A little feinted left hand from Pops on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Pops seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Bashman scores with a push kick.
Pops takes one to the side of the head.
Bashman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bashman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Pops on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Jason Pops's cut is getting worse.
Pops swats away the attempt to clinch by Bashman.
Pops half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Pops closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bashman circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Pops. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bashman connects with a high kick.
Pops throws a hook but Bashman blocks it.
Bashman throws a head kick that misses.

Bashman thows a body kick. Pops tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Bashman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pops throws out the jab.

Hulk Bashman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pops takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Bashman swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pops.

Jason Pops's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Pops missing with a left hand there. Bashman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bashman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pops was well out of range. Poor timing from Bashman.
Bashman throws a body shot but no joy.
Pops changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Bashman lands a big head kick that sends Pops tumbling to the mat! Bashman takes a step backwards and waves Pops back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Jeez, Jason Pops's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jason Pops's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
