PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rico Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tourney Guy Three (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tourney Guy Three told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy Three tries for a takedown but Sosa circles away easily

and Sosa moves into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sosa thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Guy Three looking to sit in guard and control but Sosa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Guy Three bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sosa's guard.

Sosa has his foot on Guy Three's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Guy Three works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guy Three has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sosa is working away from the top position though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sosa shoots in for a takedown but Guy Three shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Guy Three changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Sosa shoots in for a double leg but Guy Three sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sosa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Guy Three defends well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sosa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guy Three has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sosa has managed to get both his arms back between Guy Three's legs - danger averted.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sosa wants to stand up but Guy Three is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Guy Three tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sosa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sosa swats away the attempt to clinch by Guy Three.
Sosa misses with a takedown attempt - Guy Three sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sosa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Horrible takedown attempt by Sosa or perhaps it was just good defense by Guy Three, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rico Sosa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Guy Three is pushing down on Sosa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sosa is fighting to maintain full guard but Guy Three has managed to sneak the leg through.
