The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alvarez has managed to clinch.

Duncan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Duncan has his hands clasped together around Alvarez's back. He's all about the action.

Alvarez is pressing down on Duncan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Duncan is holding on for now.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alvarez in particular looking to stall.

It looks like Alvarez is going to stand back up.
Alvarez passes the guard and advances to mount!
Alvarez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Alvarez moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Duncan has worked his arm free - good work by Duncan!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Alvarez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Duncan's shoulder. That is not cool.
Alvarez grinds an elbow into Duncan's temple.


It looks like Clint Duncan has been cut.
Alvarez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Duncan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alvarez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Duncan has escaped the position, nice work there.
A lull in the action here.

That's time! Duncan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Duncan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alvarez circles away.
Duncan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alvarez but Alvarez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A head kick misses from Alvarez.
Duncan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alvarez was well out of range. Poor timing from Duncan.

Alvarez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Duncan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Alvarez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Duncan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Alvarez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Alvarez rushes Duncan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Duncan wants to get back to striking at distance but Alvarez won't allow it.

Alvarez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Duncan napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Well Alvarez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
