PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Ring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duck Tycoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tycoon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rubber Ducky kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Duck Tycoon!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Tycoon. That snapped Ring's head back.
Ring throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Ring gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Tycoon.
Ring misses the body punch
and Tycoon counters with a nice uppercut.
Ring looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ring tries a head kick but it misses.
Ring pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tycoon scores with the left hand. Ring knows he should have avoided that one.
Ring throws a sloppy head kick and Tycoon moves out of range easily.
Jeremy Ring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tycoon steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ring. That one must have hurt.

A slapping leg kick lands for Ring.
Ring misses with a head kick.
Ring tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tycoon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tycoon works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ring walks into a stiff left hand from Tycoon.

Tycoon lands a big head kick that sends Ring tumbling to the mat! Tycoon takes a step backwards and waves Ring back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Ring is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ring is looking to clinch.
A little jabbing left from Tycoon on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ring tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tycoon looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Ring looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Ring tries a head kick but it misses.
Tycoon blocks a head kick by Ring.
Ring throws a leg kick but Tycoon sees it coming and moves out of range.
Tycoon lands with a nice body kick.
Tycoon might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Ring throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ring slips under a jab.
Ring tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tycoon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Tycoon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ring sprawls well initially but Tycoon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tycoon passes the guard and advances to mount!
Tycoon tries to control but Ring wriggling away.

Ring is trying to escape the mount.
Tycoon trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ring is controlling an arm, preventing Tycoon from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Ring manages to control the position for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ring is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ring prevents Tycoon from taking his back.
Tycoon is still trying to improve position.
Tycoon looking to control and managing it successfully.
Tycoon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ring is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duck Tycoon dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Duck Tycoon has been cut.
Jeremy Ring is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ring connects with a jab.

Tycoon moves out of range of the body kick.
Ring pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ring is looking to land body kicks.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tycoon moves out of range as Ring throws a body kick.
Ring walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ring checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
As Tycoon tries to get set, Ring tries to push him back and clinch up but Tycoon manages to avoid the attempt.

Tycoon only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Ring tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Tycoon takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Ring lands with a kick to the ribs.

and Tycoon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Ring counters with a nice kick to the body.
Ring fails in his attempt to clinch.

Tycoon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ring won't allow Tycoon to pass to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tycoon is looking to take a break and control but Ring is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ring wants to get back to his feet.

Tycoon is looking to advance position but Ring won't allow it.

Tycoon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ring knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tycoon is trying to control. Ring wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Tycoon blocks a head kick by Ring.
Tycoon avoids a kick to the body.
Tycoon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Tycoon crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ring - the referee stops the clock and Tycoon gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ring. Tycoon manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Tycoon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ring.

It seemed like Tycoon was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Tycoon has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Ring.

Tycoon has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jeremy Ring.
