Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raul Jimenez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ligerito Jr!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jr shoots in and drives through. Jimenez sprawls well.
Jr has his takedown stuffed
and Jimenez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jimenez fails with a takedown attempt.
Jr shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jimenez as he avoids it easily.
Raul Jimenez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ligerito Jr.

Jimenez feints and as Jr raises his hands in defense, Jimenez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jimenez trying to control the position from guard on top but Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jr tries to get to full guard but Jimenez has control of the leg.
Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jimenez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jimenez is pressing down on Jr's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jr is holding on for now.
Jimenez is looking to take a break and control but Jr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jr is concentrating on defense, preventing Jimenez from advancing position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jimenez wants to take a breather but Jr is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ligerito Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jr closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jimenez quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jr throws a strike but Jimenez avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jr throws a big right hand that misses.
Jr postures up.
Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jr lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jimenez trying to control the position.
Jr cracks Jimenez with a solid left hand.
Jimenez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jr manages to get himself to full guard.

Jr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jimenez stands and throws Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jr can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jimenez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jr has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jimenez but great work by Jr.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jimenez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jr cracks Jimenez with an elbow. That is naaassty.

A close round but Ligerito Jr will probably get the nod.

Jr changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jimenez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jr lands an elbow.
Oh Jimenez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jimenez wants to control but Jr postures up.
Jimenez seems to have got his legs back now.
Jr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jimenez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jr connects with a decent elbow.
Jimenez can't do much from the bottom here.
Ligerito Jr has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jr looks up at the clock and then as Jimenez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jr smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jr is refusing to be controlled, as Jimenez sits in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jimenez is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Jr tries to get to full guard but Jimenez has control of the leg.
Jr is still trying to improve position.
Jimenez is just content to waste time from the top position. Jr takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jimenez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jr looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jr looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jr!

Jimenez is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Jimenez can't do much from the bottom here.
Jimenez is trying to buck Jr off.
Jimenez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jr connects with a decent elbow.
You can see the frustration on Jimenez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Check out the look on Jr's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Jimenez is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jr working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Jr is working Jimenez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Jimenez wants to control but Jr postures up.
Jr lands a nice forearm strike.
Jimenez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Jr takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jr working over Jimenez with some ground and pound. Jimenez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jr landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Jr lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Jimenez! More strikes land and this one is all over! Jr jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
