The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kannas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bad stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kannas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bad is trying to defend but Kannas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Bad is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kannas pulls his head out easily.
Kannas is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Kannas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bad defends it well.
Kannas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bad with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kannas lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Bad is staying active underneath Kannas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kannas connects with a nice short shot to Bad's temple.

Kannas lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Kannas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
