Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edogawa Conan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Detective Conan Theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Conan has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Conan wants to take a breather but Mercer manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Conan.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Conan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mercer quickly recovers to half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Conan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mercer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Conan.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Edogawa Conan.
Well Conan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
