Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bennett Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Kartes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andreas Kartes is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bennett Kidd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andreas Kartes!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kartes drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kidd trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Kartes is standing up over Kidd. Kidd looks to escape but Kartes dives into side control.
Kartes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kartes cracks Kidd with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Kartes trying to control the action but Kidd is working from the bottom.

Kartes decides to stand back up.
Kidd could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kidd avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kidd has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kartes.

It looks like Bennett Kidd has been cut.

Kartes looking to score a takedown here. Kidd is defending well but Kartes drives through and ends up in Kidd's guard.
Kidd wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kartes manages to pass to side control.
Kidd throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Kartes manages to pass to side control.
Kartes just content to control the position.
Kidd can't do much from the bottom here.

Kartes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kidd is trying to get back to half guard.
Kidd sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kidd keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Kidd tries to roll over but Kartes keeps him under control.
Kartes is looking to advance position but Kidd won't allow it.
Kartes prevents Kidd from standing back up.

Kidd is not content to let Kartes control the position.

Kidd kicks Kartes off and gets back to his feet.
Kidd bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Kartes circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kartes closes the distance and clinches.

Kartes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kartes has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kidd off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Kartes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kidd quickly recovers to half guard.

Kartes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kidd sees it coming and defends easily.

Kidd looking for submissions off his back.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kartes in particular looking to stall.
Kidd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kartes drives through with a takedown into Kidd's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kidd thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Kartes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kidd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kidd wants to sweep here but Kartes controlling him for the moment.

Kidd has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kartes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kidd wants to stand and escape but Kartes is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kartes rushes Kidd and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kidd wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kidd tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kartes just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kidd has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kartes after a bit of a struggle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kidd has had enough of the clinch but Kartes keeps him there for the moment.

The referee is keeping an eye on Kartes - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Andreas Kartes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kartes sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Kidd reaches up to try and control the position but Kartes seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Kidd rolls and tries to escape and now Kartes has his back!

Kartes is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kidd is defending well though. Kartes let's go of the attempt for now.
Kartes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kidd is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Well Kartes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
