PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bk bk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avery McCurnin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). bk comes into the arena with celabration blaring out of the sound system. Bk bk has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bk bk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Avery McCurnin!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCurnin catches bk with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like Bk bk has been cut.
McCurnin misses with a wild combination.

McCurnin rushes bk and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
bk throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but McCurnin blocks it with crossed arms.

McCurnin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McCurnin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCurnin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
McCurnin is struggling to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McCurnin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McCurnin has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as bk is landing a low percentage of strikes.

McCurnin darts in and clinches bk up against the cage.
McCurnin digs a right hand underneath bk's ribcage. bk let out a lung full of air as it connected.

McCurnin breaks the clinch.

McCurnin clinches up against the cage.
bk leaning against his opponent.
McCurnin lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of bk backwards.
With the fighters up against the cage, McCurnin throws an elbow but misses.
bk wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
McCurnin pushes bk back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
bk fails to pull guard.

McCurnin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McCurnin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as bk throws out the jab.
A nice side step and McCurnin releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McCurnin clinches up against the cage.
McCurnin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. bk avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

McCurnin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and McCurnin manages to end up in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McCurnin is trying to ground and pound but bk uses the momentary lack of control by McCurnin to regain half guard.

McCurnin seems to be working for a kimura but bk defends the submission attempt.
bk is trying to control but can't.
bk wants to get back to full guard but McCurnin has passed into side control.
The referee asks McCurnin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McCurnin prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
bk is trying to control McCurnin's posture but McCurnin avoids it.

McCurnin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
bk stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
McCurnin tries to stand but bk is controlling his head.
bk can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McCurnin wants to lay and pray for a moment but bk keeps working.
McCurnin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with bk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
bk manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
bk wants to control but McCurnin is keeping him busy.
bk prevents McCurnin from improving his position.
McCurnin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McCurnin.
bk is standing up over McCurnin. McCurnin looks to escape but bk dives into side control.
bk is looking to take a break and control but McCurnin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Avery McCurnin dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bk bk's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


bk misses with an uppercut. McCurnin saw that one coming.
McCurnin lands a really nice looking cross but bk seems unphased.
bk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McCurnin counters with a left and a right that stings bk.
McCurnin scores with a nice right hand.
bk shoots for a takedown but McCurnin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
bk is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
bk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McCurnin swivels and escapes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McCurnin! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bk bk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCurnin throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on bk's jaw, knocking him onto his back! McCurnin dives in looking to finish as bk flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block McCurnin's strikes! McCurnin is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! bk's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but bk was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Avery McCurnin!
