PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spandex Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urano Liberte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liberte has chosen Bad To The Bone as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Liberte gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rex trying to control but Liberte is working from the bottom.
Rex is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Liberte seems keen to control Rex's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rex controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rex stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Liberte swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Liberte lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Liberte misses with a low kick.
Rex tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Liberte defends well and Rex ends up having to push Liberte into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Liberte wants to clinch up but Rex keeps it at a distance.
Liberte's coach down at Team Finland was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Liberte's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Rex fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liberte, pushing him back against the cage.
Liberte tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

It looks like Spandex Rex has been cut.
Liberte creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Liberte prevents a takedown attempt there.
Liberte lands an elbow that stopped Rex in his tracks for a moment.

Rex blocks an elbow strike.

Rex is trying to break the clinch but Liberte has him pressed against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Rex wants to take the fight to the mat but Liberte manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Liberte just misses with a elbow thrown towards Rex's brow.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rex tries to stall but Liberte uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Rex is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Liberte is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
