Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Lyles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez comes to the cage accompanied by Dont Thread On Me-Metallica. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buddy Lyles!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lyles closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Velasquez can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
An elbow from Lyles crashes against the mat.
Lyles landing strikes.
The ground and pound from Lyles seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Lyles working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Lyles lands some shots froms side control.
Lyles cracks Velasquez with a big right hand but Velasquez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The strikes coming from Lyles are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Velasquez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Lyles.
Check out the look on Lyles's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Velasquez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

An elbow from Lyles crashes against the mat.
Lyles looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Velasquez is avoiding damage well.
Velasquez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lyles connects with a decent elbow.
Oh Velasquez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lyles scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Velasquez is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Lyles can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Buddy Lyles!
A relieved looking Buddy Lyles thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
