PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kamil Cwirek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maniek Krol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamil Cwirek had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kamil Cwirek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Maniek Krol!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cwirek fails with a takedown attempt.
Krol looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Cwirek dives in and scores a takedown into Krol's guard.
Cwirek is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cwirek throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krol throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Krol utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cwirek is looking to work some ground and pound but Krol has wrist control.

Cwirek stands and throws Krol's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ground and pound from Cwirek seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Krol is being controlled here.

Cwirek is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Krol has escaped the position, nice work there.
Krol is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Cwirek stands up and beckons Krol to his feet.

Cwirek throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Krol tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cwirek is in Krol's guard.
Cwirek stays in close to Krol's body and controls the position.
Cwirek with a flurry of punches that miss.

Cwirek stands up and waves to Krol to follow him.

Cwirek clinches with his opponent.
Cwirek really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cwirek drags the fight down to the ground.

Cwirek working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Krol doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Krol manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cwirek looking to hit a scissor sweep but Krol is one step ahead there.
Cwirek is working hard here to advance position.

Cwirek looking for a guillotine here but Krol defends easily.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cwirek has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cwirek fails with the takedown.

Krol gets a clinch.
Cwirek has Krol pushed against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cwirek had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Krol defends it easily.
Cwirek knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Krol on the ground.
Cwirek is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Krol stands up and waves to Cwirek to follow him.
Krol tries to clinch but Cwirek is having none of it.

Krol tries to keep at a distance but Cwirek has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cwirek is trying to pull guard but Krol has him pressed against the cage.
Krol connects with a nasty looking knee right to Cwirek's face.
Krol wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Cwirek has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Krol after a bit of a struggle.

Cwirek manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Cwirek controls Krol momentarily but Krol frees himself.
Cwirek working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Krol.
Krol is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krol passes Cwirek's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Cwirek is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Krol pulls his head out easily.

Cwirek is trying to get back to full guard.
Krol tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Cwirek wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cwirek dives in for a single leg takedown but Krol sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kamil Cwirek. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cwirek moves into range and clinches up with Krol.
Cwirek throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Krols head.
Cwirek tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Krol just stands there and leans against the cage.

Cwirek tries to pull guard but Krol won't allow it.
Krol is trying to force a seperation but Cwirek has the dominant position.
Krol is looking to break free of the clinch but Cwirek has double underhooks.
Cwirek tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Krol smiles and moves away.
Cwirek has his takedown stuffed
and Krol counters with a left and a right that stings Cwirek.

Cwirek has managed to clinch.
Cwirek jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Krol walks away with a smile on his face. Cwirek gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Krol tries to clinch but Cwirek moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cwirek gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Krol counter with a right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Maniek Krol will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Cwirek's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Krol gets caught flat footed, as Cwirek shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Krol has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Cwirek has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Cwirek gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Krol tries to kick Cwirek off but Cwirek keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cwirek scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cwirek in particular looking to stall.
Cwirek has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cwirek gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Krol stuffs the takedown.
Cwirek shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Krol counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cwirek throws out a loose jab but Krol uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cwirek dives in and grabs Krol's left leg, looking for a takedown. Krol pushes down on Cwirek's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kamil Cwirek. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cwirek closes the distance and clinches.
Cwirek wants a takedown but no success here.

Krol breaks the clinch.
Cwirek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krol tries to avoid it but Cwirek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krol to the ground. Krol escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Krol keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cwirek.
Good work by Krol as he checks the leg kick.
Krol slaps away a takedown attempt from Cwirek, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Krol tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cwirek paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cwirek is trying hard to land a takedown here. Krol sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kamil Cwirek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Krol throws a nice head kick!

Krol is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

and Krol counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Krol gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cwirek to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cwirek wants to control from the top but Krol keeps moving.
Cwirek throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Krol works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Krol controls Cwirek momentarily but Cwirek frees himself.
Krol keeping moving, preventing Cwirek from controlling successfully.
Krol trying to keep a closed guard but Cwirek is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A head kick by Cwirek misses
and Krol makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cwirek shoots in looking for a takedown. Krol tries to sprawl out of it but Cwirek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Krol manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kamil Cwirek.
I think Cwirek has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Kamil Cwirek rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
