PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everette Dillard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Everette Dillard looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Everette Dillard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Robinson!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dillard rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Robinson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Dillard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dillard went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Robinson takes the fight into the clinch.
Dillard tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Robinson smiles and moves away.

Robinson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dillard, pushing him back against the cage.

Robinson wants the takedown. Dillard is fighting it off but Robinson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Dillard's guard against the cage.

Dillard has his foot on Robinson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Robinson works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dillard not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Robinson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Robinson gets a clinch.

Robinson manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robinson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Dillard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Robinson wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Robinson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Dillard trying to stand up but can't free himself from Robinson's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dillard scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Robinson throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.
Dillard throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Robinson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Dillard is breathing heavily.

Robinson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Robinson prevents Dillard from improving his position.

Robinson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dillard sees it coming and defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Robinson slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Robinson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Robinson lands with a hook. Dillard tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like Everette Dillard has been cut.

Dillard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Robinson sneaks back into half guard.
Eric Robinson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Dillard is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Robinson sees it coming and defends easily.
Robinson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Robinson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Dillard rolls with it to try and escape but Robinson cranks on the arm and Dillard is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Eric Robinson!
A relieved looking Eric Robinson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
