Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soren Sormsal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the ring accompanied by Instrumental Core - The Angels Among Demons. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fernando Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Soren Sormsal!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sormsal sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Silva tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sormsal knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Silva is thwarting Sormsal's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Silva passes the guard and advances to mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

What can Sormsal do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sormsal for as long as he can get away with.
Silva continues to stall.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Will Silva go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

You can see the frustration on Sormsal's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

We've been hearing that Silva has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Sormsal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sormsal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sormsal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Silva fails with the takedown.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Sormsal, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Sormsal against the ropes but Sormsal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Sormsal saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sormsal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Sormsal changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Soren Sormsal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sormsal tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sormsal to the ground. Sormsal escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Sormsal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sormsal manages to get himself to full guard.

I think Sormsal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
