The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akesson lunges at Branting with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Branting's hand.

Akesson appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

We've been told by Akesson's head coaches at Vale Tudo Elite Sparring that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Branting scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Akesson doesn't seem bothered though.

Branting lands a nice hook to Akesson's body. Akesson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

A little jabbing left from Branting on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Branting throws the left hand but Akesson avoids the punch easily.
Akesson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Branting to score with a decent uppercut.
Akesson is rocked!
Branting lands with a big right hook that stumbles Akesson - he's out on his feet here! Branting follows up with another monster hook that separates Akesson from consciousness! Akesson falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Branting stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
